Washington,
September 16, 2015
U.S. Congressman Rick Allen (R-Ga.-12) is currently accepting applications from young Georgians across the 12th district for nominations from his office to attend a United States Service Academy. As a member of Congress, Allen has the opportunity to nominate a limited number of constituents who meet the eligibility requirements to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, or U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. “It is a privilege to be able to nominate outstanding young people from Georgia’s 12th district to attend our nation’s military service academies,” said Congressman Allen. “These institutions offer those interested in serving our country a first class education and unique opportunities for students to gain knowledge, tools and leadership skills that prepare them both for military and civilian life.” The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. To be eligible, the applicant must be 17 years of age as of July 1, in the year of admission to a service academy. The applicant must not have passed his or her 23rd birthday.
