The House Agriculture Committee released this year’s Farm Bill reauthorization legislation.

My colleagues and I on the committee have been working diligently to craft a Farm Bill that works for all our farmers and I am looking forward to moving this bill through the legislative process. To stay up-to-date on the Farm Bill’s progress, please visit my website.

Simply put, our farm economy is not what it was five years ago when the last farm bill was written. In Georgia’s 12th District, I have heard time and again from farmers who are struggling to make ends meet – and nationwide, our producers are facing a 52% decline in net farm income. Reforms must be made to combat the downturn, and that’s exactly why we need the legislation introduced today.  H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018, makes significant improvements and changes to provide certainty for our farmers and ensure an abundant food supply for our nation. Thanks to tax reform, the economy is growing, small businesses are expanding, and jobs are opening. This legislation also helps those on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program take the next step from poverty to prosperity by providing opportunities to prepare for gainful employment, whether through education, training or jumping straight into the workforce.

I am thankful for all of the hard work that Chairman Conaway and my fellow colleagues on the committee have dedicated to this year’s farm bill. I am excited about the next step in the legislative process, and I stand committed to providing all of our farmers with the relief that they need and deserve.

Earlier in the week I was honored to receive an award from the American Conservative Union Foundation for achieving a 93% conservative excellence rating!

Rest assured, I will continue to support conservative principles during my time in Congress.

The House considered a Constitutional Balanced Budget Amendment to require that Congress not spend more than it receives in revenue – but it failed to garner the required two thirds support on the House Floor.

I spoke on the House floor to recognize the conclusion of yet another great Masters Week.

I’d like to congratulate Patrick Reed on his outstanding performance under enormous pressure on the back nine at Augusta on Sunday!

My beautiful wife Robin celebrated her birthday on Tuesday and we thank all of you for your well wishes.

I look forward to spending many more years by her side!

I had great meetings this week with the Community Bankers Association of Georgia, Georgia 4-H, and Georgia EMCs, just to mention a few.

I’d like thank everyone for stopping by the office and spending some time with me to tell me about the issues most important to you!
