President Trump addressed the nation from the Oval Office for the first time during his presidency to make his case to the American people that there is a real humanitarian and national security crisis at the border.
Effectively securing our border is a top priority for our national security and President Trump has made it clear that this is a fight worth having. More critical resources are desperately needed along our border to end this crisis, and I am hopeful that my Democratic colleagues will come to the negotiating table to resolve this partial shutdown immediately.

We celebrated National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Wednesday.
I hope you were able to take some time and thank one of our brave and resilient law enforcement officers in Georgia for their selfless service to our local communities.
I had a great meeting with United Way in my D.C. office to discuss the inspirational work they continue to do for our communities in Georgia-12 and statewide, as well as some of the legislative issues that are important to them.
Thanks for stopping by!
I’d like to wish a heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Kyle Marrero on being named as the finalist for Georgia Southern University’s 14th President.
I am confident that Dr. Marrero’s leadership experience and proven track record will lead to great things and a bright future for Georgia Southern.
Governor Nathan Deal cut the ribbon on the second of two buildings that make up the Georgia Cyber Center in the heart of downtown Augusta.
Augusta has secured its place on the map as hub of cyber innovation, and with the opening of the Shaffer MacCartney Building, as well as U.S. Army Cyber Command’s transition to Fort Gordon, we will continue to see exponential growth in our area. It is critical that we have a well-qualified cyber security workforce for the future, and Augusta is leading the way in this effort!
As you may know, one of our biggest accomplishments in the past year was signing a five-year Farm Bill into law. As a proud member of the House Agriculture Committee, as well as the Farm Bill Conference Committee, I recently had the opportunity to pen my thoughts in the Statesboro Herald about the importance of the Farm Bill for our economy and rural America.

As a new addition to my weekly e-Newsletters, I will be highlighting one or more pieces of legislation that I have championed or co-sponsored with one of my colleagues to keep you informed about my work and legislative priorities on behalf of the 12th District during the 116th Congress.
This week’s bill that I would like to highlight for you is H.R. 32, the Buy a Brick, Build the Wall Act, legislation that I was proud to co-sponsor with my colleague Rep. Warren Davidson from Ohio. H.R. 32 is simple, but effective, and would authorize the Department of Treasury to accept gifts of money for designing, constructing, or maintaining a barrier on the U.S. and Mexico border - meaning that anyone who would like to personally contribute to the building of the wall would be able to do so. Currently this legislation is awaiting action in the House Ways and Means Committee.
Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Sincerely,
Rick Allen
