Update From GA-12

On the Friday afternoon before Memorial Day weekend, President Biden released his $6 trillion radical Socialist budget hoping no one was paying attention. But he couldn’t get one by on us.

The Biden Budget is full of troubling provisions that would:

  • Create the largest deficit since World War II
  • Add $17 trillion in new debt by 2031
  • Create $55 trillion in NEW taxes over 10 years
  • Cut defense and homeland security spending, while refusing to secure our border
  • Give $123.5 million for the World Health Organization, despite knowing they helped the Chinese Communist Party cover up the coronavirus and
  • Force taxpayers to fund abortions, breaking with decades of precedent.

I will continue to fight against the Democrats’ costly agenda and while Speaker Pelosi has yet to even propose a budget, I am proud that conservatives have an alternative budget proposal that is balanced and cuts wasteful spending.

Defunding the Historically Inaccurate 1619 Project

The New York Times’ historically inaccurate “1619 Project” aims to indoctrinate our students into believing that America is an evil country, and there is no room for that in our classrooms. We must teach our young folks to learn from our nation’s past in order to form a more perfect union. Teaching revisionist history and promoting divisive ideology will not move our nation forward.

That’s why this week I reintroduced The Saving American History Act with my colleague Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado. Our legislation would ban federal funds from being used to teach the New York Times’ historically inaccurate 1619 Project in K-12 schools or school districts. You can learn more about the legislation here.

Americans For Prosperity Panel on Infrastructure

AFP

Thanks to Americans For Prosperity Georgia for inviting myself and Congressman Jody Hice to discuss how Biden & the Democrats’ costly “infrastructure” package is just a Trojan horse for socialist Green New Deal priorities and will hurt working families. We must end wasteful Washington spending!

Investigating the Origins of COVID-19

The evidence is mounting and it’s become increasingly clear that the coronavirus could have started in a Wuhan lab and the Chinese Communist Party covered it up, but Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats have not held a single hearing.

That’s why I joined over 200 of my Republican colleagues demanding Pelosi open an investigation into the origins of COVID-19. The CCP must be held accountable. You can read our letter here.

House Education and Labor Hearing Examining the Department of Labor

Walsh hearing

This week, the House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing with Department of Labor Secretary Martin Walsh. The Biden Administration has been implementing a job-killing agenda while prioritizing union bosses over American workers. During the hearing I questioned the secretary about how we can get people back to work and be better stewards of taxpayer dollars.

Opposing Democrats’ Pro-Trial Lawyer Agenda

During a recent House Education and Labor Committee markup, Democrats jammed through two pieces of legislation without incorporating any Republican amendments. These bills will further the pro-trial lawyer agenda at the expense of workers and implement more one-size-fits-all mandates.

Unfortunately, Democrats rejected my commonsense amendment to provide Congress with much-needed data to ensure their legislation would actually address the needs of workers. Nevertheless, I will continue to oppose sweeping workplace restrictions and focus on policies that actually help workers.

Prioritizing American Energy Over Russian Energy

America must not prioritize foreign energy over domestic energy. President Biden is giving Putin and his cronies a gift by waiving sanctions to allow the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to proceed, after halting construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline on his first day in office. Now, the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline has been permanently cancelled- and Biden’s misguided energy policies are to blame.

I joined over 60 of my House Republicans colleagues in expressing concern of how this move will grant Russia more power at the expense of U.S. energy. You can read our letter here.

Urging Expedited Relief for Chicken Growers

Agriculture producers throughout the nation have been impacted by COVID-19. When processing facilities were forced to reduce or suspend production during the pandemic, many smaller and family-owned farms were threatened. But contract growers who raise chicken for poultry have not yet received any federal assistance. That’s why I joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture to urgently support our chicken growers. You can read our letter here.
