We recognized World Autism Awareness Day!
We must always promote understanding and acceptance for the millions of people with autism nationwide. I have been a proud member of the Congressional Autism Caucus, dedicated to autism advocacy, since my first term in Congress.
I proudly joined nearly 200 of my colleagues in signing the discharge petition to force a vote on H.R. 962, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
It’s simple: If a child is born alive after a failed abortion, that child should receive the same medical care that every other child would receive. I believe we have a moral duty to protect the lives of innocent, newly born babies and speak out against infanticide. I sincerely thank all of my colleagues who signed the discharge petition for their efforts to get the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to the House floor this Congress.
I also attended a press conference alongside many House Republicans, abortion survivors, and pro-life groups.
It’s time for Speaker Pelosi to let us vote!
Senate Democrats appallingly blocked a desperately needed, bipartisan disaster relief package that would have provided critical funding to rural America and Georgia farmers who were devastated by Hurricane Michael.
I will continue to do all I can to ensure that our farmers receive the assistance they need to recover as soon as possible. We stand with you.
Thanks to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Thomas J. Donohue, for presenting me with the Spirit of Enterprise Award.
During my time in Congress, I have been a strong advocate for pro-growth policies and I will remain committed to promoting and protecting American free enterprise.
The Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee held a hearing on surprise billing and accelerating healthcare costs.
I had the opportunity to ask our panel about how the healthcare and business community can come together to address surprise billing.
It was a busy week of meetings in D.C. – I met with the Alzheimer’s Association, Claxton Poultry, the Medical Library Association, and many others.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to give me an update!
It was also great to see students from Episcopal Day School for their school field trip to Washington.

As a reminder, I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of the public comment period to voice your concerns about the Corps of Engineers’ recommended plan to replace the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam.
Public comments must be submitted by Tuesday, April 16th, and we need your help to ensure that the pool is maintained! Comments can be emailed to CESAS-PD@usace.army.mil, or mailed to Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Planning Division, Attention: Ms. Robin Armetta, 100 W. This week, House Republicans took our fight for life to the national spotlight and filed a discharge petition to force a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act – garnering nearly 200 signatures on the first day. With this in mind, I’d like to highlight another piece of legislation that I am passionate about.
The Conscience Protection Act, of which I am an original cosponsor, amends the Public Health Service Act to prevent government at the local, state, or federal level from discriminatory practices and penalization of health care providers that do not participate in highly controversial abortion services.
The Conscience Protection Act upholds one of the most sincere, fundamental American principles, which is the freedom of religion. Health care providers must be protected to ensure there are no consequences for choosing not to participate in performing abortions.
Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Sincerely,
Rick Allen
