This week in georgia's 12th district...

I was honored to
nominate a number of students from Georgia-12 to attend one of our nation’s Military Service Academies and I had the opportunity to host a Signing Ceremony for the young men who received and accepted an offer of appointment.

Knowing that we have such exceptional young adults in the 12th District of Georgia who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country gives me great hope for the future of America. It is with much admiration that I congratulate each of them for their many triumphs, and I was proud to do my part to support them as they begin this next chapter in their lives.

I visited Fort Gordon where I toured the ongoing construction and discussed their needs for this upcoming year.

Overall, I have worked to secure nearly $375 million for military construction projects at Fort Gordon during my time in Congress, and rest assured that I will continue to be one of its biggest advocates.

In Statesboro, I spoke at a ceremony officially renaming the Statesboro VA Clinic after Sergeant Major Ray Hendrix – a Bulloch County native.

Sergeant Major Ray Hendrix committed his life to serving our nation and defending the freedoms that we are so blessed to have. It was an absolute honor for me to introduce and shepherd a bill through the legislative process to be signed into law authorizing this renaming – and I have no doubt that Ray Hendrix’s name and legacy will live on for generations to come with the quality care that this clinic will continue to provide to our nation’s bravest.

I also joined the Augusta Exchange Club to talk about my work so far during the 116th Congress.

It’s always great to see so many old friends and familiar faces!

I took some time to catch up with Austin Rhodes and Brad Means to discuss the hot-button issues affecting our nation.

Tune into WJBF News Channel 6 on Sunday or Monday at 12:30 p.m. to see my full conversation on the Means Report.

I traveled to Soperton to meet with the Treutlen County Farm Bureau to give an update on my work on the House Agriculture Committee and disaster relief.

I have long been advocating for a disaster relief bill to assist our farmers who were devastated by Hurricane Michael and the 2017 freeze to peach and blueberry crops. Heading back to Washington on Monday, I am confident that we will soon get a bill to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

As a reminder, my staff will be bringing our office closer to you during the month of June. If you are having a problem with the federal government, whether it’s the VA, Social Security, Medicare, or others, we are here to help!

June Community Office Hours kick off on Tuesday in Coffee and Jeff Davis counties and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to receive one-on-one assistance closer to home. For the full list of dates, times, and locations by county, please visit my website at allen.house.gov.
