| Update From Georgia's 12th District |
Last week I had the opportunity to travel all across Georgia’s 12th District. It was a busy week, but being able to meet with businesses and constituents helps me to serve you better in Congress. Here are some highlights:
Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast
It’s always great to be back in Millen. Thanks to the Jenkins County Chamber for the opportunity to provide a congressional update at the Legislative Breakfast.
Bulloch County Commission Meeting
I stopped by the Bulloch County Commission Meeting to provide an update and answer questions about what Congress has been up to in Washington.
Advanced Valve and Instrument
I was able to visit Advanced Valve and Instrument in Statesboro, which supplies highly specialized equipment – automated valve assemblies – to industries in the Southeast and across North America. In December, AVI was saluted as Business of the Year by the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce.
Good Day Café in Waynesboro
Had the best time visiting Good Day Café in Waynesboro. Nothing beats having a good lunch while running into great people!
Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting
Robin and I were able to catch up with the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders throughout the CSRA. It was a privilege to say the invocation before the Annual Meeting.
USDA Announces Rural Broadband Projects
I joined U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Georgia Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in Claxton as USDA announced funding for two projects aimed at expanding rural broadband access. Investing in high-speed broadband access for underserved areas has been a long-time priority of mine, including in the 2018 Farm Bill which I was proud to help champion in the House. I’m glad we are taking steps to get our farmers the tools and technology needed to stay connected with today’s markets.
God and Country Patriotic Concert
I had the honor of participating in Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church’s 2020 God and Country Patriotic Concert. I was able to share how my faith has guided my service in Congress, and discuss how the Founding Fathers rooted our country’s foundation in the Bible.
Summer 2020 Internships
Applications for the 2020 Summer Internship Program in Washington D.C. and Augusta are now open. Our Internship Program offers the opportunity for high school graduates and young professionals to learn firsthand how the U.S. government and legislative process operates.
