This Week in Georgia's 12th District |
It was another busy week in the 12th District of Georgia! Here are some of the highlights:
In Dublin -
Visiting Dublin City Schools
Thanks to Dr. Fred Williams, Superintendent of Dublin City Schools, for meeting and providing me with an update on schools reopening. I know this year has been challenging, but I’m so appreciative of your commitment to our students.
Meeting with Sheriff Larry Dean
It’s always great to catch up with Sheriff Dean. Thank you for working to keep Laurens County safe and secure!
Visiting the Federal Courthouse
I met with Judge Dudley Bowen at the federal courthouse in Dublin to discuss the building’s conditions.
In Swainsboro –
Speaking at Swainsboro Rotary
I enjoyed stopping by Swainsboro Rotary to catch up with members and share a brief legislative update.
Visiting America Knits
When COVID-19 first hit and PPE supplies were short, America Knits in Swainsboro helped the Presidential Task Force make masks and gowns for our medical professionals. Thank you to the whole team for your service to our nation!
In Waynesboro-
Coffee with the Congressman
I hosted a coffee meeting with local elected officials and community leaders in Burke Country, where I provided a brief update and discussed issues impacting the community.
In Millen -
Touring Southern Nature Products
Thanks to Southern Nature Products of Millen for giving me a tour of your operations. For over 25 years they have produced top quality bark, mulch and soil products!
Lunch at Café on Cotton
I stopped by the Café on Cotton for lunch and visited Mayor King Rocker and Commission Chairman, Hiller Spann.
In Brooklet -
Joining EPA Administrator Wheeler at Cromley Farms
It was great to join EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler at the Cromley Farm in Brooklet for the announcement of new registrations for two dicamba products, and the extension of the registration of an additional dicamba product. This is a result of input from stakeholders, and will provide our growers here in Georgia with new flexibilities.
SCOTUS Update
This week, the U.S. Senate confirmed Justice Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the Supreme Court and Justice Clarence Thomas administered the Oath of Office. I am confident that she will serve with the same integrity, intellect and commitment to the Constitution that she has throughout her impressive career.
As always, my office is here to help. You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Sincerely,
Rick Allen
