Thank you, Georgia 12!

I am extremely thankful for the continued trust and support of the great people of the 12th District of Georgia.

As we look toward a new year, I'd like to renew my commitment to delivering results for the hardworking people I am fortunate enough to represent. Over the next two years, I will work to confront the crises before us head-on and serve as an effective voice for you in Washington.

Being your Representative is one of the greatest honors of my life. Thank you for the opportunity to continue championing the great people of Georgia’s 12th District in Congress.

Sincerely,

Honoring the late Senator Johnny Isakson

.

On Thursday, I voted to pass S. 4359, the Senator Johnny Isakson VA Regional Office Act, which would formally rename the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Regional Office in Atlanta after the late Senator in recognition of his tireless work to benefit America's veterans.

I was proud to co-lead the bipartisan House companion bill, H.R. 8350, alongside Democratic Rep. Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02). Prior to the vote, I spoke in support of the bill on the House Floor.

Touring Textron/E-Z-GO

.

Textron/E-Z-GO is committed to teaching students the skills they need to succeed in the modern economy.

I recently visited their Augusta headquarters and it was great to hear about what they’re doing to boost workforce development in our district.

Visiting Franklin's Citrus Farm

.

I visited Franklin’s Citrus Farm in Statesboro last week and was lucky enough to have owner Joe Franklin show me around the property.

As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I am proud to promote new, fast-growing commodities in the state, and will fight for their priorities in the next Farm Bill.

Touring Eagle Creek Brewing Company

.

While in Statesboro, I toured Eagle Creek Brewing Company, where CEO Franklin Dismuke showed me how they make their delicious handcrafted beer.

Biden's border crisis continues to worsen

.

The Biden administration is breaking records, but not in a good way. Since President Biden took office, this administration's policies have led to an unprecedented crisis at our border, and the October numbers highlight just how dire the situation is.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently released figures showing that during October alone, there were 230,678 illegal encounters at our southern border, the highest total for October in the history of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)! Fentanyl also continues to flow across our border, exacerbating our public health crisis, with 1,906 pounds of fentanyl being seized at our border just last month.

It is clear that the situation at our southern border is both a humanitarian and national security crisis, and it must be addressed immediately. Most recently, a federal judge ruled that Title 42 must end in the coming months, which would further compromise our border. Title 42 was a tool used by the Trump administration to curb illegal immigration by turning away individuals who cross our border illegally. It is clear that we must look for a lasting solution to secure our border, and Republicans in the next Congress will work on legislative action to ensure our nation is safe.

Rest assured, addressing the border crisis remains one of my top priorities in Congress.
