Commonsense Solutions
to Better Government

For far too long we have let the executive branch seize authority and empower unelected bureaucrats. The federal government is largely unaccountable, and those who suffer most from government inefficiency are the very people it is intended to serve: the American people.

I’m proud to serve on the Republican Study Committee’s Government Efficiency, Accountability, and Reform (GEAR) Task Force, whose goal is to develop reforms to improve the federal government in order to better serve American families. This week, I spoke on the House floor about our new report that highlights over 100 commonsense solutions to better government.

Congressman Rick W. Allen speaks on the House floor during a special order.

It’s no secret Washington has a spending problem. If something isn’t working, many of my colleagues would prefer to just throw more money at the problem – but we need serious government reform. Our report highlights specific ways we can make government more efficient and accountable to the people, and I’m hopeful our report will lay the groundwork for future legislation.

ICYMI: I held a telephone town hall to answer questions from GA-12 constituents.

Telephone town halls provide an opportunity for me to receive feedback and answer your questions. During the call, I gave an update on President Trump’s budget, the State of the Union, the economy, and more. If you’d like to participate in the next one, be sure to sign up here.

Putting patient care first.

The House Education and Labor Committee considered legislation on surprise medical billing. I’ve been a long-time advocate for stopping surprise billing, and while we can all agree no properly insured American should have to front the cost for an unexpected bill, we need to do this the right way. I have serious concerns about this bill, and I cannot support a proposal that would limit patient access to care.

Family Research Council True Blue Award

The Family Research Council honored me with the True Blue award for my 100% voting record on conservative, pro-life and pro-family legislation in Congress.

Agriculture Retailers Association

We had a great discussion about free and fair trade, transportation and infrastructure, and other issues important to Georgia’s agriculture workforce.

Georgia Special Olympics

During our meeting, we were able to talk about various education and athletic programs. I am so thankful for their time.

Habitat for Humanity

I appreciate the update and opportunity to hear from constituents from Georgia’s 12th District.

The partisan impeachment sham was a waste of taxpayer time and money. There was no evidence of any wrongdoing by President Trump, which is why the Senate ultimately acquitted him for life. But this political hit job came at a cost to the American people, and it’s time to hold Democrats accountable.

That’s why I’m proud to cosponsor H.R. 5769, the Statement of Harm to the American Majority (SHAM) Act. The bill requires the Government Accountability Office to conduct an audit of the use of funds and loss of government productivity for both the Legislative and Executive Branch due to the impeachment inquiry and trial.

Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Sincerely,

Rick Allen
