Republicans, Democrats and President Trump all agree that prescription drug prices are skyrocketing and Congress must act. But this week, the House of Representatives voted on H.R. 3, the Fewer Cures and More Government Price Control Act.
The facts on Speaker Pelosi’s partisan, socialist drug pricing scheme are clear:
- Fact 1: H.R. 3 is a radical government takeover of the pharmaceutical industry – and it ultimately will prevent Americans from accessing potentially life-saving cures.
- Fact 2: According to the White House Council of Economic Advisers, H.R. 3 could prevent as many as 100 fewer drugs from entering the U.S. market over the next decade.
- Fact 3: Countries that have adopted similar drug pricing schemes as proposed under this legislation have experienced a decrease in access to innovative new medicines, increased wait times for treatment, and supply shortages for in-demand drugs.

Americans will not stand for this. Thankfully, we have an alternative, H.R. 19 – the Lower Costs, More Cures Act. Under this legislation – which I am proud to cosponsor – innovation is encouraged, low-cost options are promoted, and drug companies are curbed from gaming the system. It also increases transparency so that no patient feels uncertain at the pharmacy counter. This includes capping the cost of insulin and out-of-pocket expenses for seniors in the Medicare Part D Program. We need to work in a bipartisan way to pass the Lower Costs, More Cures Act.

Securing critical defense funding.
The Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report authorizes critical defense funding and sets priorities for America’s military. This year’s NDAA also includes necessary funding to support the critical missions at Fort Gordon and Savannah River Site.
Gearing up for USMCA.
After unnecessary delay, Speaker Pelosi finally announced a vote on the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will be scheduled before the end of the year. The USMCA is a huge win for the American people and supports high-paying jobs while bolstering U.S. agriculture and achieving bipartisan priorities.
House Democrats unveiled sham articles of impeachment.
House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment, despite no evidence to prove their case. This partisan impeachment sham is just their latest desperate attempt – Democrats have tried to undermine President Trump since the day he took office.
One of my priorities in Congress is to ensure that broadband access is available to consumers in often underserved areas. This goal requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to have accurate data and maps that show areas where improvement is needed. Unfortunately, that is currently not the case.
That’s why I’m proud to cosponsor H.R. 4229, the Broadband Deployment Accuracy and Technological Availability (DATA) Act. This legislation will improve the accuracy of FCC broadband data maps by changing the way broadband data is collected. I’m also a cosponsor of complimentary legislation, H.R. 4227, the Mapping Accuracy Promotes Services (MAPS) Act, which will help to hold broadband providers accountable by making it illegal to knowingly provide inaccurate data to the FCC.
