Supreme Court rules on landmark abortion case

.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently issued a decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson, restoring the rights of individual states to pass their own laws regarding abortion, and reversing the decisions made in both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

I applaud the Court's decision. You can find my full statement on it here.

Rising prices affecting cookout costs this year

.

While Americans are preparing to celebrate the Fourth of July next week, rising costs are on track to make this year's cookout the most expensive in our nation's history.

According to the American Farm Bureau, the average cost of staple products such as hamburger buns, potato chips, and cheese have soared 17 percent in the past year.

It's time we put an end to the reckless, tax-and-spend policies that are driving this historic inflation and reclaim our energy independence to combat these rising costs.

Defending our great Second Amendment

I recently voted against the Senate gun control package that would undermine the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms by placing additional restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. You can find my full statement on that vote here.

Meeting with GA-12 students in Washington

.

Students from across our district traveled to Washington, D.C. last week as part of the Washington Youth Tour, sponsored by the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

I always enjoy visiting with the younger generation as they discover the importance of civic engagement. Thank you to the students who visited; it was great to see you!

Discussing the importance of nuclear power in GA

.

Nuclear energy plays an important role in Georgia’s energy portfolio, and the 12th district houses 100 percent of the nuclear reactors in the State of Georgia—with two new nuclear reactors also under construction at Plant Vogtle.

I met with representatives from the North American Young Generation in Nuclear last week to discuss the importance of nuclear energy and reiterate my support for policies that will help our nuclear industry provide clean, safe power to our residents.

Advocating for our farmers

.

Our country is facing a disrupted food system that has resulted in higher energy costs, fertilizer price spikes and shortages, and worsening food insecurity around the world.

To address these crises, my colleagues and I have introduced legislation to roll back the regulations and red tape that's made it harder for farmers to do their jobs.

I will continue fighting to ensure Georgia's agricultural producers have the certainty and resources necessary to meet food demand and prevent future food shortages.
