Last Week Serving Georgia's 12th District

I spoke on the House floor against the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

Not only will Speaker Pelosi and House Democrat leadership not hold a vote on the impeachment inquiry, they won’t even let us vote on a resolution that has more than 170 cosponsors – including myself – to censure Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. I am disappointed with how this rushed, secretive process has played out, and I am extremely frustrated that Mr. Schiff has used his position to mislead the American people on numerous occasions.

I joined several of my Republican colleagues to storm the impeachment hearing room and we successfully got in. To no one’s surprise, Mr. Schiff then left the room, continuing this secretive process so he can cherry-pick what information to leak. All members deserve to get the facts – and so do the American people. I will not stop fighting until this impeachment sham is over.

I met with CSRA Chamber leadership during their trip to Washington and was able to give them an update on my work in Congress.

I’m proud to always advocate for Fort Gordon, Savannah River Site, Plant Vogtle, and many other Augusta priorities in Washington.

The Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia – including Mayor Phil Best of Dublin – and I met.

During the meeting, I received an update and we were able to discuss the availability of this natural resource.

I attended the investiture of Georgia Southern University’s 14th President, Dr. Kyle Marrero.

We thank him for his commitment to Georgia Southern students and his leadership on campus.

It was great being back on Augusta University’s campus for the STEAMIFY event.

This education competition highlights the importance of education in STEAM – or science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.

At the event, I was able to share that my office is hosting the 2019 Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students in Georgia’s 12th District. The winning app will be highlighted in the U.S. Capitol, and the deadline for students to submit their app is less than a week away on November 1st. If you would like to register or learn more about the competition, visit my website at allen.house.gov.

ICYMI: I cheered on the Georgia Southern Eagles as they took on Coastal Carolina University.

It’s always great to be back at Paulson Stadium and watch some Georgia Southern football!

Under Obamacare, Americans saw their premiums skyrocket and choices diminish. Included in Obamacare is the Health Insurance Tax (HIT), which is set to go into effect in 2020 and will further increase premiums for working families and small businesses.

Congress must work to reform our broken healthcare system, not impose another costly and burdensome tax. That’s why I am proud to co-sponsor H.R. 1398, the Health Insurance Tax Relief Act. While we must continue to rollback Obamacare and permanently repeal HIT, this bill will ensure that it does not go into effect until after 2021.

Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Sincerely,

Rick Allen
Member of Congress
