Opposing Another Continuing Resolution

Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats are so busy trying to impeach President Trump, they forgot about their duty to fund the government!

This week, the House passed another continuing resolution, or CR, which I opposed, that funds the government until December 20th. This just kicks the can down the road until right before the Christmas holiday when members are eager to return home. That’s no way to legislate.

Meanwhile, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff continued his partisan impeachment sham this week with a set of new witnesses. However, there is still no tangible evidence of quid pro quo, bribery, or any crime. This entire process is backwards; they accused the President first and are trying to find a crime second.

The American people should be ashamed. Here’s what we could have been focusing for the nearly two months this process has gone on:

Honoring a Georgia legend, Senator Johnny Isakson.

Opposing another government mandate.

Congressman Allen speaks on the House floor during debate in opposition to H.R. 1309. Healthcare and social service workplaces have higher rates of workplace violence and this issue must be addressed, but this bill undermines the work of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and comes at a high cost without data supporting if this bill is an effective approach to curb workplace violence. According to a 2018 American Hospital Association survey, 97 percent of respondents indicated they already have workplace violence policies in place. Another top down federal mandate is the last thing our healthcare practitioners need.

Expanding rural broadband.

Congressman Allen participates in a House Agriculture Committee roundtable on broadband technologies and how we can work together to bridge the digital divide and expand broadband to rural areas.

ICYMI: Nuclear is a necessary part of our clean-energy future

Congressman Allen writes in the Washington Examiner about the importance of nuclear energy – including Plants Vogtle and Hatch located in Georgia’s 12th district. Click here for text to the full op-ed.

As we approach the holiday next week and enter this season of thanksgiving, one of the things I’m most grateful for is to live in a country where I can worship freely. In many places around the world, people thirst for the religious freedom that we enjoy here in America.

That’s why I’m proud to cosponsor H.J. Res 78, which protects freedom of conscience and upholds the First Amendment. We cannot allow the far left to threaten businesses, religious organizations or non-profits for running their operations in accordance with their deeply held beliefs.

Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Sincerely,

Rick Allen
