Reclaiming Fiscal Responsibility

For the past three years, since gaining the majority in the House of Representatives, Speaker Pelosi and Democrat leadership have not drafted a single budget. As a businessman, we wouldn’t be able to stay in business without a budget - and the same goes for putting together a family budget at the kitchen table. But Speaker Pelosi refuses to get back to regular order or give the American People an opportunity to see where their hard-earned tax dollars are being spent.

However, this week, the Republican Study Committee released our conservative budget proposal.

RSC budget

Our budget would:

  • Balance in 5 years
  • Cut taxes
  • Eliminate earmarks
  • Build the wall
  • Protect the unborn
  • Safeguard the 2nd amendment
  • Empower U.S. job creators to keep jobs on American soil

Congress has a responsibility to be good stewards of your tax dollars, which is why I remain committed to eliminating wasteful spending and supporting policies that limit the size and scope of the federal government. I’m grateful that my work in Congress has been recognized by Citizens Against Government Waste, as this week I was named a “Taxpayer Super Hero” for achieving a perfect score of 100% on their 2020 Congressional Ratings.

Getting Americans Back to Work

Back to Work OMS

8.1 million jobs were reported available in March, but small businesses can’t get their employees to go back to work because President Biden and Congressional Democrats are paying people more to stay home. I spoke on the House floor about the need to end the federal enhanced unemployment supplement and get Americans back to work!

Opposing Critical Race Theory in Our Classrooms

This week I joined my Republican colleagues on the House Education and Labor Committee opposing the Education Department’s proposed priorities on the American History and Civics Education programs. Specifically, the Department’s action to promote Critical Race Theory would violate prohibitions against the federal government’s involvement in local schools’ curriculum, advance racist and divisive ideologies, and advocate for false history and misinformation.

You can read our letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona here.

Urging the Reinstatement of Space Force Commander

This week I joined 23 of my colleagues in sending a letter to the Acting Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Space Operations in grave concern over the removal of Lieutenant Colonel Lohmeier, Commander of the 11th Space Missile Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base.  He was relieved of command after promoting his new book which highlights the proliferation of critical race theory training throughout the military.

Just as there is no room for divisive ideologies in our classrooms, there is absolutely no place for it in our military. They must reinstate Lieutenant Colonel Lohmeier immediately.

Celebrating Our Great Military

Thunder Over Evans

On May 15th our nation celebrated Armed Forces Day. I had the opportunity to thank our military during Thunder Over Evans, the CSRA’s public acknowledgement and celebration of Armed Forces Day. Whether it’s by land, air or sea, we have the greatest military in the world!

Expanding Rural Broadband

This week, Republicans on the House Agriculture Committee introduced the Broadband For Rural America Act. This bill helps bridge the digital divide by providing more than $7 billion in authorizations for U.S. Department of Agriculture broadband connectivity programs, focusing on the most rural and least-connected residents.

The VA will be hosting a listening session for the Dublin and Augusta VA Medical Centers on Tuesday, May 25th at 3PM to discuss the future of health care. This is a great opportunity to share your feedback and you can register here.

In 2014, when Israel was under rocket attacks by Hamas, the House of Representatives took action and unanimously passed a resolution condemning the attacks. Since May 9th of this year, Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets toward Israel, but Democrats have not brought forward a similar resolution to condemn them on the House Floor.

I’m proud to cosponsor H. RES. 396, condemning the deadly and indiscriminate rocket attacks perpetrated against Israel by Hamas, and expressing that the United States must continue to invest in and support Israel’s security and sovereignty. I will always stand with Israel and it’s time for all members of Congress and the Biden Administration to do the same.
