Coronavirus Resources

My office is continuing to monitor the coronavirus situation closely and I have been attending regular briefings from the Trump Administration about developments. While there are currently no confirmed cases in Georgia’s 12th District, please utilize these coronavirus resources for the most up-to-date information in an effort to keep you and your family safe:
Travel Assistance:
  • CDC travel health notices can be found here
  • International travel guidance issued by the Department of State is available here
  • State Department and specific country advisories are listed here.
Earlier this week, Dr. Stephen Goggans, District Health Director of the East Central Heath District, and I hosted a call with skilled nursing facilities in the district and conducted a Facebook live to provide an update on the coronavirus.

I also held a telephone town hall to give an update and answer questions from constituents about the outbreak. As this continues to develop, I will do my best to keep you updated. I also encourage you to follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

This week I held meetings with various groups and organizations, here are some highlights:

Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities

I spoke during a special order on the House floor in support of the Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act. This bill holds illegal aliens in sanctuary cities accountable for the heinous crimes they commit on American soil. This should not be a partisan issue, as no one is above the law.

As a father and grandfather, I know how important it is to have good health care and treatment for your children. Unfortunately, some families with a child who is born with congenital anomalies and birth defects are faced with costly reconstructive treatments and many health plans routinely and systematically deny claims under the pretense that they are cosmetic in nature.

That’s why I am a cosponsor of H.R. 1379, the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act. This bill requires private health insurance plans to cover diagnosis and treatment services for congenital anomalies and birth defects, such as reconstructive services and prosthetics. This includes services that functionally improve, repair, or restore any body part that is medically necessary for normal bodily functions or appearance, as determined by the treating physician. These types of procedures are not cosmetic, they’re necessary.

Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Sincerely,
