Celebrating National School Choice Week

.

This week is National School Choice Week! On Tuesday, I was grateful to join my friend, Senator Tim Scott, and the School Choice Caucus to kick off the 118th Congress and promote educational freedom for our nation's students.

I also spoke on the House Floor about the necessity of giving families a greater say in their children’s education.

Putting American Science First

.

I caught up with Fox 54's Lauren Young this week to discuss my new bill to close loopholes in federal research funding that the Chinese Communist Party could potentially exploit to gain access to these funds.

The American Science First Act would expressly prohibit the National Science Foundation (NSF) from authorizing funds to any individual or entity that is affiliated with a Chinese military company.

Under no circumstance should American taxpayer dollars ever be used to further the military interests of Communist China.

Combatting the Biden Administration's Failed Energy Policies

.

On Friday, I voted to pass H.R. 21, legislation to counteract Biden's unprecedented mismanagement of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Energy security is national security, and the SPR is meant for emergency disruptions to our energy supply, not to bail out the president when his bad policies cause prices to rise.

The Strategic Production Response Act would tie any future, non-emergency drawdowns from the SPR to a concrete plan of action from the Department of Energy on how it plans to offset that drawdown with increased oil and gas production on federal lands.

Energy and Commerce

Roundtable on Energy Security

Americans are suffering from the worst energy crisis in decades, thanks to President Biden's misguided energy policies.

I joined my colleagues on the House Energy and Commerce Committee in a roundtable discussion on the importance of energy security and the steps we can take to unleash American energy production and once again become energy dominant.

It is long past time for this White House to reverse course and work with us to maximize production of American energy.

Roundtable on Big Tech & Fentanyl

The House Energy and Commerce Committee also held a roundtable discussion on the unfortunate role that Big Tech companies have played in the ongoing fentanyl crisis.

Education and the Workforce

Roundtable on Student Loan Debt

In the months since President Biden announced his student loan forgiveness scheme, the issue of student borrowing has been at the forefront of many Americans’ minds.

On Thursday, I joined in on a roundtable discussion with my colleagues on the House Education and Workforce Committee to drill down into the issue and chart a course toward responsible policymaking.

Speaking at the Augusta Kiwanis Club

.

This week, I spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Augusta, giving an update on our efforts in Washington and checking in with members of the community.
