This week in georgia's 12th district Touring Fort Gordon with Rep. Joe Wilson Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) and I toured the headquarters of U.S. Army Cyber Command and the Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Gordon. Fort Gordon is home to some of the finest men and women that our nation has to offer and it was a pleasure to see firsthand the great work that our military does to safeguard our freedoms-- and the gains we are making in cyber. Our servicemembers are the tip of the spear in cyberspace and we must ensure they have the resources necessary to ensure the safety of our nation. I am eternally grateful for our servicemen and women who put their lives on the line to protect our nation.

Touring Fort Gordon with Rep. Joe Wilson

.

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) and I toured the headquarters of U.S.

House votes on wasteful Washington spending

.

The so-called 'Inflation Reduction Act' is another bloated spending bill that will raise taxes at the worst possible time -- during a recession! Rather than address the economic crisis they created, President Biden and congressional Democrats are focused on pushing socialist Green New Deal initiatives and expanding the size and scope of the IRS to snoop on Americans' bank accounts. In this time of recession and record-high inflation, Congress needs to work towards balancing our budget, bolstering our workforce and growing our economy, not doubling down on failed policies.

I attended the annual Congressional Luncheon hosted by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce where I spoke on a panel regarding the War for Talent and touched based on economic recovery and the need for increased access to affordable health care, especially for our underserved rural communities.

This year's luncheon was a great opportunity to highlight the important work being done to grow our workforce, revitalize our health care system, and bring quality care to Georgians.

Coffee with the Congressman

.

On Wednesday morning, I hosted Coffee with the Congressman in Candler County where I provided an update on key issues affecting Georgians.

I heard about the many issues our constituents are facing and shared my positions on some of the hot button topics of the day.

Donating books from the Library of Congress to Statesboro City Hall

.

On Wednesday, I joined members of the Bulloch County Literacy Council and community leaders and donating books from the Library of Congress to the Statesboro City Hall’s children's reading nook.

The children's reading nooks at Statesboro City Hall and throughout the community are important parts of our efforts to encourage literacy and ensure that young Georgians are best equipped to succeed in school. Early childhood literacy is crucial to a well-rounded education. By working with organizations like Bulloch Literacy, we could have children in Georgia reading at two grades above level.

I am grateful to be able to do my part to support reading efforts in our community.

Touring operations at Hart Dairy in Waynesboro

.

I joined Dr. Richard Watson and Mandy Schulz at the Hart Dairy site in Waynesboro where I toured the farm and its milking facilities.

As the son of a farmer and as a consumer, I am proud of the role that agriculture plays throughout our state and the 12th District.

.

Visiting a new school in Wheeler County

.

I had the pleasure of visiting the new school in Wheeler County and meeting with Superintendent Suzanne Couey, members of the Board of Education and other key staff and stakeholders making this new facility a reality.

As a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, I have the privilege of working on issues to ensure our bright young scholars are sufficiently prepared to lead this country and achieve the American dream.
