Update From GA-12

As your Congressman, one of my most important duties is taking every opportunity to travel around Georgia’s 12th District to hear directly from you about the issues impacting your family. I had a busy few weeks doing just that, and I want to share some of the highlights:

In Laurens County:

It’s always great to be in Dublin! Thank you to the Exchange Club for letting me share a brief legislative update about what’s going on in Washington.

Carl Vinson VA

I was also able to visit the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center and receive an update on how they are working to address the challenges presented by COVID-19. As we continue to work through the pandemic, I am thankful for the staff’s continued commitment to providing and improving quality care.

In Treutlen County:

Thanks to Soperton Mayor Royce Wayne Fowler Jr. for taking some time to discuss issues impacting the community.

While in Montgomery County I had the chance to catch up with County Sheriff Doug Maybin and Mount Vernon Mayor Joey Fountain.

In Wheeler County:

TC Logging

Rep. Allen visits T.C. Logging

T.C. Logging in Alamo is a family business that specializes in forestry and land management. As a member of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry, it was great to get insight on issues impacting the industry.

In Toombs and Tattnall Counties:

Toombs/Tattnall Farm Bureau Dinner

Rep. Allen speaks at the Toombs/Tattnall County Farm Bureau Legislative Dinner

Thanks to the Toombs and Tattnall County Farm Bureaus for hosting a legislative dinner and inviting me to share an update with members. It’s an honor to serve on the House Agriculture Committee and be a voice for our Georgia farmers.

In Richmond County:

Charlie Norwood VA

Rep. Allen with Dr. Robin Jackson at the Charlie Norwood VA

I met with Dr. Jackson at the Charlie Norwood VA in Augusta and received an update on the medical center and a tour of the women’s center. I am grateful for the team’s commitment to combating COVID-19 while providing quality veterans care.

SHRM

Rep. Allen speaks to the Society for Human Resource Management

I had the opportunity to speak to human resource professionals in Augusta and provide a legislative update, including my work on the Healthy Future Task Force, where we focus on innovative healthcare solutions, and the House Education and Labor Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions.

Richmond County Schools

Rep. Allen with Richmond County School System representatives and Fort Gordon officials

It was a productive meeting with Superintendent Kenneth Bradshaw and representatives from Fort Gordon to discuss the impact of growth in the area on both the Richmond County School System and Fort Gordon.

In Burke County:

Rep. Allen attends the annual Midville Field Day

It felt good to be back at the Midville Field Day lunch this year. I’m so thankful for the men and women who help make Georgia’s ag industry the best in the nation!
