Reauthorizing the FAA

FAA

This week, the House passed H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, with my support. This bipartisan legislation reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for five years, grows the aviation workforce, improves passenger flight experience, and preserves America’s status as the gold standard in aviation safety.

More specifically, H.R. 3935 prohibits passenger vaccine and mask mandates, makes improvements to the air traffic control system and infrastructure, removes barriers for those pursuing careers in the industry, improves pilot training standards, and encourages private sector investments in the workforce.

Educational Facilities Should be Used for Educating Students

Schools

Since President Biden took office, this administration and House Democrats have ushered in radical open border policies that have incentivized a historic surge in illegal immigration. Rather than addressing the root of the problem, Democrats are instead using school facilities to provide shelter for the influx of illegal immigrants coming into our country.

House Republicans passed H.R. 3941, the Schools Not Shelters Act, which would prohibit the use of public elementary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education from providing shelter for illegal aliens.

As students continue to grapple with pandemic-era learning loss, it is imperative our schools and educational facilities are used for educational purposes—not housing illegal immigrants.

Improving Government Transparency

S.111

The House also passed S. 111, the Providing Accountability Through Transparency Act. This simple, yet critical legislation would require the notice of a proposed rule by a federal agency to include a summary of 100 words or fewer, written in plain language, to be posted on regulations.gov.

This bipartisan legislation ensures the American people have easily accessible information about proposed rulemakings from federal agencies and upholds our commitment to an accountable and transparent government.

Update on the Bon Air Apartments in Augusta

Rest assured, I will continue to work with HUD, Redwood Housing Partners, and all parties involved to ensure the Bon Air residents are provided with the living conditions they deserve.

For 75 years, America and Israel have stood together as partners in defense of freedom, democracy, and mutual security. On Wednesday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed a Joint Meeting of Congress, reaffirming the unbreakable partnership between our two democracies.

House Republicans will always stand firm with Israel as we continue to bolster our strong relationship now and in the future.

Energy and Commerce

Full Committee Markup

The Energy and Commerce Committee advanced 15 bills that will strengthen America's public health preparedness and resilience. Included in the package of bills was H.R. 824, the Telehealth Benefit Expansion for Workers Act, which I co-introduced.

Telehealth is critical to ensuring Americans can receive timely and affordable care from their home. H.R. 824 is a bipartisan bill that would empower job creators who do not currently offer major medical insurance for their employees to provide standalone telehealth benefits.

Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Hearing

“American Nuclear Energy Expansion: Updating Policies for Efficient, Predictable Licensing and Deployment”

Advancing nuclear energy legislation in our country is critical for our energy security and dominance. Georgia-12 is leading the way in our nuclear energy expansion with units 3 and 4 at Plant Vogtle, the first two nuclear power plants to come online in the United States in over three decades.

During the hearing, I highlighted the Nuclear Licensing Efficiency Act, legislation I am working on to improve the licensing process for nuclear reactors by establishing general timelines for application reviews, establishing metrics and milestone schedules, along with many other provisions to ensure efficiency in the licensing process.
