This Week In Georgia's 12th District

Wishing everyone a Happy Veterans Day!

We are forever grateful for the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country in uniform. It is because of their service that we are the greatest country in the world.

Major General Hersey welcomed me to Fort Gordon and provided me with an update as U.S. Army Cyber Command Headquarters continues its transition to Augusta.

This transition will allow for Georgia’s 12th District to continue to lead in the cyber domain for years to come. The Cyber Center for Excellence continues to train and equip our soldiers for the future of cyber and electronic warfare, and we are thankful for their service to our great country.

Burke County Schools invited me to participate in their Feed My School event.

Students in Burke County impressed me at their Feed My School Day. These students grow their own vegetables, all while learning about the importance of agriculture. Burke County partners with local farmers, whom I also got to meet with, to help feed students throughout the county. This program is not only nutritious, but it also allows our students to have a deeper understanding and appreciation for where their food comes from.

The Waynesboro Rotary invited me to share an update.

It’s always great to be in Waynesboro and hear directly from members of the Rotary Club. During my visit I was able to give them an update on what’s happening back in Washington.

I toured Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro and Plant Hatch in Baxley.

Georgia’s 12th District is leading the way in clean nuclear energy expansion, as home to both Plant Vogtle and Plant Hatch. Units 3 and 4 at Plant Vogtle are the first new nuclear reactors to be built in the U.S. in more than 30 years. Nuclear energy provides our state and country with economic, national and environmental security.

U.S. Silica in Millen hosted me for a tour.

I appreciated the opportunity to learn about the U.S. Silica Millen plant, which opened in September. They produce high-end industrial products that will be sold across the U.S. and internationally.

I joined Governor Kemp at the Georgia Cyber Center as he announced Georgia is the number one state for business for the 7th year in a row!

With our state’s great economy, it should come as no surprise that for the seventh year in a row, Georgia has been named the best state to conduct business by Site Selection magazine.

The Irish Gifted Academy in Dublin invited me for a visit.

This is the first year for the new charter program in Dublin City Schools Systems for gifted K-8th grade students. I enjoyed meeting these students and learning about their program, and as the Lead Republican for K-12 Education, I will take their story back to Washington!

I stopped by Erdrich USA in Dublin.

I appreciate the Dublin facility for hosting me and providing me with an update on their manufacturing processes, where they produce electronic parking brake systems.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association invited me to speak at their fall meeting.

During the meeting I was able to discuss workforce development, which is one of my top priorities in Congress as a member of the House Education and Labor Committee.

Stay connected by signing up to receive a call during future Telephone Town Halls. Please note: under the rules of the House of Representatives, only constituents of Georgia's Twelfth Congressional District are able to participate in Telephone Town Halls.
