Our Nation Must Come Together to Heal

Over the past week, communities across the nation have been rightfully shaken over the wrongful death of George Floyd. His death was tragic and justice must be served.

From Augusta to Statesboro, protestors have demonstrated their First Amendment right by gathering peacefully, and I’m proud of the 12th District for serving as an example for the rest of America. Violence is not the answer, and we must come together in order for our nation to heal.

Joining Secretary Perdue at Athena Farms

This week I had the opportunity to join U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue at Athena Farms in Atlanta to see the Farmers to Families Food Box Program in action.

This USDA program partners with regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by COVID-19, to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.

Touring University Hospital Summerville

The COVID-19 outbreak has demonstrated the need to bring back control of the U.S. supply chain. I had the opportunity to tour University Hospital Summerville and learn about the gown and anti-viral production lines they have set up because they cannot rely on foreign supply chains any longer.

Thank you to all of our healthcare workers who have been on the frontlines of combating COVID-19.

Addressing the Rotary Club of Dublin

Over the past several weeks I’ve had the privilege of speaking with various groups via conference and video calls. Yesterday, I got the chance to participate in a Facebook Live with the Dublin Rotary Club to provide a legislative update and answer questions from members.
