AN UPDATE FROM GEORGIA’s 12th district

This week I wrapped up a busy month dedicated to traveling across the district to meet with constituents, business owners, school administrators, VA medical centers, farmers, and more. Here’s a quick update on where I’ve visited the past few weeks.

It was great meeting with constituents for Coffee with the Congressman events in Sylvania and Statesboro.

This month I held several Coffee with the Congressman events throughout the 12th District, where I gave a quick update and answered questions in a town-hall style format. I appreciate the large turnout at these events and discussing issues important to our communities.

Thank you to the Statesboro Rotary for inviting me to share a congressional update.

The Statesboro Rotary invited me to speak at their recent meeting to share an update on my work in Congress and answer some of their questions.

I toured the Bulloch County Agriculture Complex in Statesboro.

During my visit, I was able to tour the new complex and receive an update on the work they are doing to promote agriculture here in Georgia.

The Glennville Chamber invited me to speak at their Legislative Luncheon.

I was grateful for the opportunity to speak before members of the Glennville Chamber during their recent luncheon and answer questions. Supporting policies that empower business owners is one of my top priorities in Congress.

I visited the Augusta Exchange Shopping Center and discussed legislative items impacting the Augusta-Richmond County metro area.

During my visit I met with Mark Pritchett of Meybohm, Daniel Gibson and Patrick Kelly of Kimco Realty and Steven Lowery of Nareit to discuss legislation, including how the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is working here in Georgia’s 12th District.

Richmond County School System Superintendent Dr. Angela Pringle said farewell to Augusta.

I’m thankful for her service to the Richmond County School System and was able to help the Augusta Metro Chamber send her off as she transitions to a new position in Winston-Salem. I wish her the best!

I received an update on veterans’ care from the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta.

Ensuring our veterans have quality care is one of my top priorities and I appreciate Medical Center Director Dr. Robin E. Jackson and his staff taking the time to meet with me. I also enjoyed receiving a tour, including a visit to the Spinal Cord Injury Unit.

I visited Appling County Hospital in Baxley, where I learned more about the challenges facing rural hospitals.

After receiving a tour of the hospital, I was able to participate in a community partnership meeting to learn more about the Appling County Hospital’s unique challenges. Thank you for having me and thank you for the care you provide to your patients.

Sheriff Mark Melton and I discussed issues important to Appling County.

Every day our law enforcement professionals are hard at work to keep our communities safe. I’m grateful for the service and commitment of Sheriff Melton and his office.

The Boys & Girls Club Teen Center in Douglas hosted me for a visit.

It was wonderful to meet with students and tour the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) Teen Center. They provide programs and activities to enhance the education of our students in the area.

The Douglas Rotary invited me to speak before their members at this week’s meeting.

Thank you for allowing me to share a legislative update and for taking the time to ask questions about issues important to the 12th District.

I was able to have a great meeting with Coffee County Superintendent, Dr. Morris Leis.

As the senior Republican serving on the House Education and Labor Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, I appreciated our discussion on issues impacting K-12 education.

It’s been a productive month traveling across Georgia, and hearing from you has refueled me as Congress returns to Washington for legislative session.
