Opportunities to Connect

As your Congressman, constituent service remains one of my top priorities. My staff and I are ready to help address any issues you may be experiencing with a federal agency, such as Social Security, Veterans Affairs, Medicare, and others. I’m pleased to offer this direct assistance closer to home through Community Office Hours during the month of December.

Protecting the Right to Life

15 Weeks Unborn Babies

This week the Supreme Court began hearing arguments in a major pro-life case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Specifically, the court will consider upholding Mississippi’s law banning abortion after 15 weeks. The science is clear, an unborn baby is a human!

  • At 5 weeks unborn babies have a heartbeat
  • At 10 weeks they have arms, legs, fingers and toes
  • At 15 weeks they have fully developed hearts, lips, noses, and can feel pain

That’s why I signed onto an amicus brief in July that supports Mississippi’s law and protects states’ right to uphold the sanctity of life.

Meeting with the Society for Human Resource Management

SHRM

I had the opportunity to meet with members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to discuss how we can help employers by simplifying reporting requirements to the IRS. As Lead Republican on the Education and Labor’s Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee, one of my priorities is ensuring federal policies help both job creators and workers, not create more burdens.

Opposing Democrats’ Hall Pass

President Biden and Congressional Democrats have created crisis after crisis. Rather than secure our border, address rising prices and inflation, or fix our supply chain, they have been focused on increasing reckless spending that will only make these crises worse. In the process, Democrats have neglected to finish the appropriations bills. That’s why this week, they passed a continuing resolution to essentially give them a hall pass for their irresponsible budget process. This continuing resolution will delay any meaningful consideration on our spending, kicking the can further down the road until February 18, 2022.

Additionally, continuing resolutions have a history of negatively impacting military training, readiness, equipment, and personnel. We must get back to regular order and pass fiscally responsible funding measures that will get our nation back on the road toward prosperity.

Over the past two years, we’ve seen teachers unions and politicians try to dictate what our students are being taught in school and silence the voice of parents. Every parent deserves transparency as to the curriculum and a voice in their child’s education.

That’s why I’m proud to cosponsor H.R.6056, the Parents Bill of Rights Act. This bill will ensure parents know their rights and protect parental involvement by reinforcing their right to be heard, their right to see curriculums, and their right to be updated on any violent activity that happens on their children’s campus.

As always, my office is here to help. You can email me ⇒ HERE, contact any of our offices or join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
