Democrats' "Infrastructure" Package This week “the Squad” and other Democrats reintroduced their socialist Green New Deal legislation, and they are planning to use their upcoming partisan “infrastructure” package as a vehicle to enact several Green New Deal priorities. While details of what they consider infrastructure – and I use that term loosely – are not finalized, here’s what we do know:It advances $600 billion to Green New Deal priorities.Only 5% will go toward roads and bridges, and 2% for airways, waterways and ports. They are planning the largest tax hike since 1968 to pay for their agenda – and an estimate from the National Association of Manufacturers shows that their proposed corporate tax hike would cost 1 million jobs.

Democrats' "Infrastructure" Package

This week “the Squad” and other Democrats reintroduced their socialist Green New Deal legislation, and they are planning to use their upcoming partisan “infrastructure” package as a vehicle to enact several Green New Deal priorities. While details of what they consider infrastructure – and I use that term loosely – are not finalized, here’s what we do know:

  • It advances $600 billion to Green New Deal priorities.
  • Only 5% will go toward roads and bridges, and 2% for airways, waterways and ports.
  • They are planning the largest tax hike since 1968 to pay for their agenda – and an estimate from the National Association of Manufacturers shows that their proposed corporate tax hike would cost 1 million jobs.
Infrastructure OMS

This is extremely disappointing, since infrastructure could be an area for bipartisanship – but so far the Democrats have made no effort to negotiate.

Fighting for Rural Broadband

This week the House Agriculture Committee held hearing on rural broadband. It is critical for businesses and students to have access to the speeds they need, no matter where in America they live. I know how critical this issue is to the 12th District, and I am fighting to expand access every day.

I also want to thank Governor Brian Kemp, who announced last week Washington EMC’s new partnership with Conexon Connect to provide high-speed fiber internet to more than 12,000 homes and businesses, including in Emanuel and Laurens counties.

Meeting with Georgia’s Electric Cooperatives

Thanks to representatives from Georgia’s electric cooperatives for discussing energy issues that impact consumers throughout the 12th District.

Carl Vinson VA Selected for Fisher House Construction

Congratulations to Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin for being one of 12 VA medical centers selected for Fisher House construction. Fisher Houses provide military and veterans families with a place to stay while their loved one is in the hospital. I was proud to lend my support during this competitive application process.

Recent Votes-

H.R. 1333 & H.R. 1573 – Democrat bills that further fuel the border crisis

  • Rather than addressing the crisis at our southern border, House Democrats passed two bills that will throw gas on the fire.
  • H.R. 1333 limits the President’s authority to deny entry to aliens if their presence in the U.S. would be detrimental to national security.
  • H.R. 1573 slows legitimate trade and travel into the U.S. while costing CBP hundreds of millions of dollars to send lawyers to secondary inspections at points of entry.
Enforce our laws

I opposed both these bills and will continue to fight to secure our border.

H.R. 51 – D.C. Statehood:

  • In their latest power grab, House Democrats passed an unconstitutional bill to make Washington, D.C. a state.
  • The Founding Fathers never intended for D.C. to become a state, and every Justice Department for the past 60 years has said that D.C. cannot be granted statehood without a constitutional amendment.
  • This is nothing more than an attempt to gain two more Senate seats so they can enact their radical agenda.

There is bipartisan consensus that we must take action to lower drug prices for Americans. However, Speaker Pelosi continues to push a government price control scheme that will make us more reliant on foreign countries like China, while also limiting the development of new cures and treatments.

That’s why I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of H.R. 19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act. This legislation will encourage more cures and innovation, promote more low-cost options for patients who need them, and stop drug companies from gaming the system.
