Securing America's Leadership on the World Stage

America is strongest when our allies can count on us and our adversaries fear us. This week, the House passed H.R. 8595, the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2027, which demonstrates that America can continue to project strength and leadership abroad without increasing spending.

WHAT THE BILL DOES:

• Puts America First: Refocuses foreign assistance on advancing U.S. national security, economic interests, burden sharing, and cooperation with American priorities.
• Supports Allies and Counters Adversaries: Provides strong support for Israel, Taiwan, Jordan, and Egypt while confronting Communist China, Iran, Cuba, the Taliban, drug cartels, and other threats.
• Cuts Wasteful International Spending: Reduces funding for lower-priority international programs and ensures taxpayer dollars are spent in America's interest. Refocuses foreign assistance around partner accountability, burden sharing, migration cooperation, and opposition to America’s adversaries. Continues ban on any funding going to the Taliban.
• Blocks Radical Foreign Policy Programs: Prohibits funding for DEI initiatives, radical gender ideology, climate mandates, UNRWA, UNFPA, and other programs inconsistent with President Trump's America First agenda.

House Republicans are ending the era of blank checks abroad. Foreign aid should advance U.S. national security, not bankroll hostile regimes, failed institutions, or radical priorities.

Eliminating the Twice-Yearly Clock Change

I consistently hear from Georgians in the 12th District who are sick and tired of resetting their clocks twice a year. We're one step closer. 

This week I also voted to pass H.R. 139,  the Sunshine Protection Act, which would make Daylight Saving Time (DST) permanent—eliminating the twice-yearly change. This legislation will lower crime, save Americans time and money, reduce traffic accidents, and encourage the public to get outside.

Help me urge the Senate to get it done!
