I attended the “Made in America” Showcase at the White House where we celebrated American made products and the jobs that these companies have created throughout America.
With over 6 million available jobs in our nation, our workforce needs are significant and the House passed critical legislation to prioritize career and technical education.
Many of the in-demand jobs of today do not require a four year degree, and the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act will help bridge the gap between our business and education communities and is now headed to President Trump’s desk.

As a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, I spoke in favor of this bill on the House floor and am looking forward to seeing this bill become the law of the land and solidifying the American dream for future generations.
I also welcomed theClubhou.se from Augusta to Washington for a bipartisan Innovation Forum and Showcase to hear how they have been addressing the workforce development challenges in our area.
I’d like to thank them for showcasing their ideas, innovations, and strategies for me and my colleagues on the House Education and Workforce committee.
I had a great meeting with Georgia FFA State Officers and it’s always great to see so many young leaders interested in Agriculture.
Two of this year’s officers are from Georgia’s 12th Congressional District - Thanks for stopping by!
The House also passed legislation to restore the doctor-patient relationship and put patients back in control of their healthcare decisions.
H.R. 6311 expands health savings accounts to help people plan and save for their healthcare needs while accessing lower health care plans. Our current healthcare system is broken and I spoke in support of this bill on the House floor.
The House passed the conference report for the National Defense Authorization Act, also known as the NDAA, to authorize critical defense funding and this legislation will soon be sent to the President’s desk.
The NDAA includes wins for Georgia’s 12th District, including authorizing $99 million in military construction funds for a Cyber Instructional Facility at Fort Gordon and funding the crucial missions at Savannah River Site.
I also held a Telephone Town Hall to take questions and hear from Georgia-12 constituents on the issues that matter them.
