Working to Secure Disaster Assistance for Georgia
|
This week, I co-led the Georgia Delegation in sending a bipartisan, bicameral letter urging key Congressional leaders to approve Governor Brian Kemp's request for roughly $12 billion in federal disaster assistance for Georgia in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
My colleagues and I applaud the public servants and community leaders who have helped Georgia along its first steps toward recovery, but we know that more needs to be done, especially for our farmers and rural communities.

A Win for American Manufacturers, Workers, and the CSRA
|
I recently sent a bipartisan, bicameral letter to Secretary of Commerce, Gina M. Raimondo, urging the Commerce Department to stand by U.S. manufacturers and workers in the low-speed personal transportation vehicles (LSPTV) industry as they face a surge of subsidized imports from China.
Last week, the Department of Commerce announced its preliminary finding that the government of China unfairly subsidizes its LSPTV industry, including golf carts, Personal Transportation Vehicles (PTVs), and Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs).
This announcement is a win for American manufacturers, workers, and the CSRA and sends a clear message that we will not tolerate discriminatory trade practices that harm U.S. producers. The LSPTV industry is an important economic driver in the 12th District and we must take every necessary step to ensure a level playing field.

Calling for Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Reform
|
I participated in a press conference hosted by Representative Buddy Carter (GA-01) to call on Congress to pass meaningful PBM reform. This is a pressing issue not only in our rural communities, but across the nation.
Community pharmacies have consistently pushed for transparency into PBM operations and reforms to their tactics for the last 15 years. During that time, access to critical drugs and care has only grown more difficult for patients.
We made progress during the 118th Congress by passing the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act with my support, but more work certainly remains and I am hopeful we can get legislation signed into law in short order.

Protecting Small Businesses
|
In 2014, small businesses spent about five times as much per employee as medium-sized businesses to comply with federal regulations, while today, small businesses pay seven times as much per employee as medium-sized businesses to comply.
With over 40 years of experience, I know firsthand how burdensome regulations and red tape make it harder and more costly to start a business and achieve the American Dream. This week, the House passed H.R. 7198, the Prove It Act, which requires greater transparency from agencies on regulatory decisions that affect small businesses and empowers them to petition the Small Business Administration to review proposed regulations and their economic impact.
House Republicans will always stand up for small businesses, the backbone of our economy, against federal bureaucrats.

Joining the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus
|
This week, I also joined the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. This caucus will focus on highlighting the work of and coordinating with President-Elect Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, to implement legislation to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government.
I look forward to partnering with my colleagues on the DOGE Caucus to carry out our mission of bringing meaningful change to Washington.
