august district work period: part one

Speaking at the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club Meeting

On Wednesday, I had the privilege of speaking at the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club meeting in Augusta. I enjoyed using this time to provide an update on House Republicans' work over the last several months under new leadership in Washington, D.C.

During the meeting, I discussed the America First policy agenda and our efforts to deliver the One Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump's desk, which he signed into law on July 4, 2025. This transformative legislation secures our borders, unleashes American energy, lowers costs, reins in reckless spending, supports farmers and rural communities, protects the largest tax cut for working families in history, and much more. It's always refreshing to see familiar faces and hear feedback about the issues impacting Georgia's 12th District.

Celebrating Broadband Expansion in McDuffie County

I also had the opportunity to visit the McDuffie County Boys and Girls Club to celebrate the new broadband expansion project and partnership with Comcast. This valuable partnership will help ensure McDuffie County and surrounding communities have reliable internet connectivity and students have the resources they need for a successful school year.

As we all know, high-speed broadband is a critical part of today’s modern economy—at our homes, businesses, and schools. It was an honor to play a small role in this historic celebration!

Touring DaVita Dialysis in Thomson

While in Thomson, I also toured DaVita Dialysis, which provides top-notch care for individuals living with kidney disease. I enjoyed speaking with clinicians about DaVita's patient-focused approach to care and how it often leads to life-enhancing results for patients. Thanks for having me!

Visiting Helms College in Augusta

I also stopped by Helms College to learn more about the current programs they offer and their planned expansions. This career-focused institution, sponsored by Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, helps professionals develop their skills and God-given gifts to maximize employment opportunities and career advancement.

As a small business owner for over 40 years, I have firsthand experience with the challenges of finding skilled and qualified workers. The educational programs offered at Helms College will help us fill in-demand jobs and close the widening skills gap.

August Community Office Hours

Problems with a federal agency? August Community Office Hours are underway!

Throughout the month of August, members of my staff will be available to assist constituents closer to home with a variety of federal issues, including help navigating various federal agencies such as FEMA, Social Security, Veterans Affairs, Medicare, and others.

This Week's White House Highlight

REMINDER: With President Trump back in the White House, we are excited to add a new feature to the newsletter! Each week, I will highlight an executive action, announcement, rulemaking, bill signing, or any other activity from the Trump Administration to keep you well-informed on what's happening in Washington.

On Wednesday, President Trump joined Apple CEO Tim Cook to announce the company will increase its U.S. investment to $600 billion over the next four years as it brings additional components of its supply chain and advanced manufacturing back home.

Apple’s investment includes a new American Manufacturing Program to incentivize its suppliers and partners to join them in accelerating domestic manufacturing — directly creating 20,000 new American jobs and many thousands more across its suppliers.

Apple supports more than 450,000 jobs with thousands of suppliers and partners across all 50 states. We want our leading tech giants to build factories here at home and create jobs for hardworking Americans. Any way you chalk it up, this announcement is a win for our economy and the American people!
