this week in washington...

We all woke to the heartbreaking news out of Las Vegas on Monday morning.

Please continue to pray for all the victims, their families and our brave first responders. As Congressman Scalise reminded us, this is a time to come together as Americans.

The House passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which will protect unborn children from abortion at 20 weeks.

“Our Nation Can and Must Protect the Most Vulnerable Among Us”

I participated in bill markups in both the House Agriculture Committee and House Education and Workforce Committee.

The Save Local Business Act out of Ed and Workforce will combat the Obama-era joint employer rule, which hurts our businesses.

Georgia-12 got great news last week – the Department of Energy will offer additional loan guarantees to Plant Vogtle owners.

I thank Secretary Perry for his renewed commitment to this important project!

The House also passed the FY 18 budget, entitled “Building a Better America,” that will balance the budget within 10 years, provide for the National defense and cut more than $200 billion in mandatory spending.

It also paves the way for the Unified Framework for Fixing our Broken Tax code.

Many schools in Georgia-12 participated in Walk & Bike to School day this week!

Reminder – Military Academy applications are due to my Augusta office next Friday, October 13th.
