Preserving Consumer Choice
|
Under the guise of energy efficiency, the Biden-Harris Administration waged a four-year war on domestic energy and consumer choice, and it was American families that paid the price. The Biden-Harris Department of Energy proposed a ban on gas stoves and announced plans to regulate washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and more.
That's why I recently introduced the Don't Mess With My Home Appliances Act. This legislation implements necessary reforms to the Energy Policy Conservation Act (EPCA) to prevent future administrations from prioritizing a radical rush-to-green agenda over the affordability and availability of reliable household appliances that Americans rely on every day.
When I came to Congress, I never expected to introduce a bill to defend my constituents' use of household appliances, but under the previous administration, Democrats made it clear that no appliance was off limits. We cannot allow that to happen again.

This Week's White House Highlight
|
REMINDER: With President Trump back in the White House, we are excited to add a new feature to the newsletter! Each week, I will highlight an executive action, announcement, rulemaking, bill signing, or any other activity from the Trump Administration to keep you well-informed on what's happening in Washington.
This week, President Trump announced a landmark economic agreement with Japan—one of America’s closest allies and most important trading partners. - This historic deal reflects the strength of the U.S.–Japan relationship and Japan’s recognition of the United States as the most attractive and secure destination for strategic investment in the world.
- The agreement reaffirms the shared commitment of both nations to economic prosperity, industrial leadership, and long-term security. It delivers a powerful signal that the U.S.–Japan alliance is not only a cornerstone of peace in the Indo-Pacific, but also a driver of global growth and innovation.
- With over $550 billion in a new Japanese/USA investment vehicle and enhanced access for American exports, this agreement marks a new chapter in bilateral cooperation—one that will unleash the full potential of the U.S. economy, strengthen vital supply chains, and support American workers, communities, and businesses for decades to come.
President Trump also announced a landmark trade deal with Indonesia that will unlock major breakthroughs for America’s manufacturing, agriculture, and digital sectors. I am grateful that this administration is putting America first and negotiating historic trade deals from a position of strength.
