Increasing Access to Care for 12th District Energy Workers

This week, the House Committee on Education and Workforce advanced H.R. 4122, the Health Care for Energy Workers Act, which would increase access to care for current and former energy workers. H.R. 4122 would benefit over 10,000 Georgia energy workers, including many employed at Plant Vogtle and the Savannah River Site.
Specifically, this bipartisan, bicameral legislation, which I introduced with Representative Lucy McBath (GA-06), would update the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) to allow nurse practitioners and physician assistants to order covered care within their scope of practice.
These providers play a significant role in America’s health care system, and it is time that they play a greater role in the Energy Workers Program. I look forward to seeing this bill considered on the House floor.

Accepting Applications for our Fall Internship Program
|
I recently announced that my office is now accepting applications for the 2026 Fall Internship Program. This program is open to college students and young professionals interested in learning about the legislative process and assisting with the responsibilities of a congressional office. Interns will perform a range of tasks including constituent outreach, legislative writing, and more, with the possibility of earning school credit.
Fall internships will be offered from August to December 2026, with specific dates to be discussed during the interview process. Applications can be submitted HERE. |
Celebrating America's 250th Birthday

On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate the most important milestone in our country’s history—250 years of American Independence. As we approach this monumental day, I want to be sure you have all the information you may need about festivities being held in Washington, D.C.
Under the President’s leadership, the Salute to America 250 Task Force (“Task Force 250”) is executing a full slate of festivities, which began on Memorial Day, 2025, and will continue through the end of 2026.

This Week's White House Highlight

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently announced the U.S. Border Patrol’s thirteenth consecutive month of zero releases at the border, continuing the trend of historically low border crossings.
Illegal crossings in May remained historically low: - Southwest border apprehensions were 94% lower than under Biden
- The U.S. Border Patrol’s apprehensions along the southwest border in May (9,998) were 94% lower than the monthly average of the Biden administration's policies and 96% below the peak (May 2024).
- Daily average apprehensions in May were 94% lower than under Biden
- The Border Patrol’s average number of apprehensions per day along the southwest border in May (323) was 94% lower than the daily average under the Biden administration's policies.
- CBP's total encounters this fiscal year to date are lower than May alone
- Total Border Patrol apprehensions along the southwest border this fiscal year through May are 26% lower than just one month on average from FYs 1992 through 2024.
CBP remains on the frontline against drug smuggling, seizing dangerous narcotics before they reach American communities: - Significant Increase in Seizures: Nationwide in May, seizures of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana (combined, by weight) increased 32% from May 2024.
- Fentanyl Seizures Up: Fentanyl seizures increased 72% from April 2026, with 795 pounds seized in May 2026.
- Marijuana Seizures Soar: CBP seized an average of 37,033 pounds of marijuana per month for the last four months. This is 61% higher than the 14,500-pound average in FY 2024 during the Biden Administration.
- Fiscal Year Drug Seizures: CBP has seized 56% more drugs this fiscal year through May than it seized during the same period of FY 2024.
