250 Years of American Independence

Yesterday, we celebrated a generational milestone: our nation’s 250th birthday!
Two and a half centuries ago, a group of courageous patriots gathered in Philadelphia and declared the birth of a new nation. What began as a revolutionary idea became the greatest experiment of freedom and self-government that the world has ever known—a nation founded on the principles of liberty, the rule of law, limited government, and the belief that all people are created equal.
Robin and I were blessed to be surrounded by family and friends as we attended the Freedom 250 Salute to America event at the Washington Monument. From musical performances and military flyovers to jaw dropping fireworks and undeniable displays of American patriotism, this event was truly historic. While we missed being in the 12th District this year, we were grateful for the opportunity to mark this momentous occasion in our nation's capital.
The story of America has never been easy, it has always been extraordinary, and it is still being written. God Bless the USA!

Ensuring a Safe Online Atmosphere for Kids and Teens

In today's digital age, a safe online atmosphere for our nation's youth should be the standard. However, for too long, Big Tech companies and social media platforms have been allowed to collect our children and teenagers’ information while treating their digital safety as an afterthought. Those days are over.
The House of Representatives recently passed H.R. 7757, the Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act, with my support. This legislation incorporates 13 bipartisan proposals to establish strong national standards for kids’ internet safety by empowering parents, strengthening privacy protections, and holding Big Tech accountable.
This legislation gives parents stronger tools to monitor their children’s online experiences, establishes safeguards for AI chatbots, modernizes children's privacy protections by requiring parental consent before collecting information from children under 14, extending privacy protections for individuals under 18, and much more to protect future generations. |
Accepting Applications for Fall Internships
|
I recently announced that my office is now accepting applications for the 2026 Fall Internship Program. This program is open to college students and young professionals interested in learning about the legislative process and assisting with the responsibilities of a congressional office. Interns will perform a range of tasks including constituent outreach, legislative writing, and more, with the possibility of earning school credit.
Fall internships will be offered from August to December 2026, with specific dates to be discussed during the interview process. Applications can be submitted HERE. |

Subcommittee on Communications and Technology hearing:
"Oversight of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration"
During this hearing, members questioned NTIA Administrator Roth and discussed how NTIA and Congress can work together on telecommunications policy that positions the United States to remain a global leader.

Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions hearing:
"Direct Contracting: A Prescription for Lower Health Care Costs"
I chaired a HELP Subcommittee hearing on direct contracting, which gives employers new ways to work directly with providers, reduce administrative costs, and focus more health care dollars on patient care instead of overhead. When employers have the flexibility to pursue arrangements like direct contracting, workers and their families benefit from more affordable coverage, better access to care, and stronger health outcomes.

This Week's White House Highlight

The results are in — One year after President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cuts into law millions of hardworking Americans are keeping more of what they earn, as this once-in-a generation legislation delivers exactly what President Trump and Republicans promised to do. By preventing the largest tax hike in history, delivering substantial tax cuts to hardworking Americans, rewarding hard work, and boosting take home pay, this landmark legislation is restoring the American dream.
One Year Later: Working Families Tax Cuts Are Delivering for Americans - The results speak for themselves — President Trump’s signature tax cuts are already making a difference:
- Millions of Americans received historic tax refunds this tax season with the average refund exceeding $3,400 — an 11% increase from last year.
- American families and workers claimed $82 billion in direct tax relief, with 97% of filers receiving a tax cut.
- More than 29 million workers claimed the No Tax on Overtime deduction with an average deduction of over $3,100
- More than 35 million seniors have claimed No Tax on Social Security with an average deduction of over $7,500.
- Nearly 8 million workers claimed No Tax on Tips with an average deduction of over $7,000.
- Over 1.4 million filers have claimed No Tax on Made-in-America Car Loan Interest with an average deduction of over $1,800.
- Nearly 40 million families claimed the enhanced Child Tax Credit.
- Nearly 6 million Trump Accounts have been opened, with 1.4 million eligible for the $1,000 pilot program contribution.
- More than 127 million taxpayers benefited from the permanently doubled standard deduction.
- The benefits of this legislation are overwhelmingly reaching American workers, just as we promised. 96 percent of taxpayers receiving a tax cut earned less than $200,000, with nearly 70 percent of those receiving these widely popular tax breaks making less than $100,000.
