I hosted my biennial Youth Leadership Summit earlier this week and it was a tremendous success. This summit brings together some of our district's brightest young students to hear from speakers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout their lives.

The goal of this event is to equip and inspire the next generation of American leaders by helping them hone their leadership skills as they prepare for the next chapter. I look forward to what lies ahead for each of the students in attendance this year! Thank you to the chaperones, schools, educators, and speakers who made it possible!

Farmers Home Furniture began out of the back of a pickup truck. Today, they have nearly 100 stores across Georgia and over 250 across the southeast. During my visit to the headquarters in Dublin, we heard about how their Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) has resulted in undeniable employee success and retention.

I've always said the success of any business starts with its employees. This is what the American Dream is all about. Congratulations on 77 years of quality service!

Continuing to promote childhood literacy at Swainsboro Primary School and Johnson County Elementary School for Georgia Pre-K Week. Hearing from these young students about how much they enjoy reading is a true blessing. Thanks for having me!

Visiting the Coca-Cola facility in Augusta to receive a business update and learn about the new plans for expansion in Dublin. We also did a walk through of the facility to discuss repairs from Hurricane Helene's impact.

President Trump signed an Executive Order to immediately cut diesel costs for the truckers and farmers who keep America moving. The order temporarily opens highway use of tax-free dyed diesel, deferring the federal diesel tax on that fuel through the end of the year — no interest, no penalties.

The federal diesel tax is 24.4 cents per gallon, or about $60 on a 250-gallon fill. Where states match this federal action, savings will top $100 per fill — a real difference for the hardworking Americans who haul the freight and grow the food.

• This action will put money directly back in the pockets of American farmers, truckers, and workers, for example saving truckers over $100 per refill.
• Diesel is taxed based on its intended use. “On-road” or highway diesel is subject to state and federal excise taxes. Diesel used for off-road purposes, such as agricultural, construction, or heating, is not taxed.  This off-road diesel is dyed red so that law enforcement can identify it to enforce penalties and back taxes for on-road use.
• The Administration, and State Governors, can exercise their enforcement discretion to halt inspections and waive the tax liability that users would face for on-road use of dyed diesel.
