100 Days

This week, President Biden delivered his first address before a joint session of Congress. Our nation is in desperate need of unity, which is something both Republicans and Democrats can agree upon. That’s why I’m incredibly disappointed that the Biden Administration’s actions – and inaction – have been the polar opposite. President Biden’s first 100 days have been marked by divisive policies and broken promises.

Unfortunately, his address only further highlighted how far President Biden has caved to the radical left. To the contrary of what President Biden said, many of his socialist policy proposals will actually hurt working families and have already destroyed American jobs. Further, his agenda is designed to grant the federal government more power while appeasing our adversaries abroad. It’s clear that our nation has weak leadership in the White House.

However, I believe the American People still have reason to be hopeful. That is if – and only if – our nation’s leaders return to our founding values. We’ve seen that we can unleash unprecedented growth and give every American the opportunity to succeed when we bolster the principles of small government and individual liberty. Under the right leadership, I have no doubt we can do it again.

Emanuel County Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon

It was an honor to thank all of our men and women in law enforcement who keep our communities safe. I also had the opportunity to congratulate Tyson Stephens, Emanuel County’s longest serving sheriff, on his recent retirement.

Leadership Augusta Executive Forum

This week I spoke to CEOs and senior management from Augusta area businesses, government, and nonprofit organizations at the Leadership Augusta Executive Forum. I provided an update on the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam and how my office is working with the local community to find a solution that maintains the pool.

Congratulating Dr. Sandra Carraway on Her Retirement

Thank you Dr. Sandra Carraway, Superintendent of the Columbia County School System, for your commitment to our students’ education, and congratulations on your upcoming retirement. You’ve led the district as the county saw tremendous growth and prioritized safely reopening our classrooms following the pandemic.

House Education and Labor Committee Hearing

This week we held a hearing on “Building Back Better: Investing in Improving Schools, Creating Jobs, and Strengthening Families and our Economy,” where I highlighted how runaway federal spending can threaten our nation’s economic recovery.

Meeting with Augusta University Nurse Anesthesiology Program

I had a great meeting with the Nurse Anesthesiology Program at Augusta University and had the opportunity to talk with several of these impressive students about issues important to their profession.

ICYMI: DHS Extends REAL ID full Enforcement Date to May 3, 2023

This week the Department of Homeland Security announced it is extending the REAL ID full enforcement date by 19 months, from October 1, 2021 to May 3, 2023. Beginning May 3, 2023, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID- compliant driver’s license or identification card, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another TSA-acceptable form of identification at airport security checkpoints for domestic air travel.
