this week serving georgia's 12th district...

Today, on National Vietnam War Veterans Day, I spoke at the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony in Augusta.

This beautiful ceremony and unveiling of the memorial is a great way for our community to recognize the selfless service of our Vietnam veterans, and I wanted to thank them for their dedication and service to our nation.

We also celebrated National Medal of Honor Day on Monday!

Every day, we are grateful for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who have served above and beyond the call of duty.

Special Counsel Mueller’s two year investigation finally drew to a close and his findings were perfectly clear: there was no Russian collusion whatsoever. These unfounded and biased claims aimed at undermining President Trump’s presidency can finally be put to rest.

Democrats have made it clear that opposing this President is a far-greater priority for their party than focusing on solving problems. Moving forward, I am hopeful that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle will do away with the partisan games and come to the table to achieve real results for our great nation and the American people.

In our fight to save the lives of innocent children, I asked for unanimous consent for the full House of Representatives to take a vote on H.R. 962, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, of which I am an original cosponsor.

This legislation is simple and straight forward: if a child is born alive after a failed abortion, that very child should receive the same medical care that every other child would receive. This marked the 20th time that House Republicans have asked for consideration of this legislation, and each time, Democrats have refused.

The Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee, of which I am member, held a hearing on workers’ rights.

With 7.6 million available jobs in our country, I spoke to our panel about the importance of workforce development and empowering workers using a bottom-up approach.

The House took a vote on H.R. 7, the Paycheck Fairness Act – which places unprecedented restrictions and liability on job creators that will harm the very women it claims to protect, and I spoke out against this legislation on the House floor.

After passing historic tax reform and eliminating burdensome red tape under the Republican-led Congress, our businesses are empowering women across the country. We have more women in the workplace than ever before at nearly 75 million and women have filled 58% of the 2.8 million jobs created in the last year. We need to keep this momentum going, not obstruct employers’ efforts to recruit, hire, and promote workers.

I had great meetings this week with the Georgia Association of Career and Technical Education, AIPAC, and the Family Research Council – just to mention a few.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

As a reminder, I recently announced the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in Georgia-12.

High School students interested in submitting artwork can visit my website at allen.house.gov for further rules, guidelines, and drop-off locations.

This week, after a very productive meeting with AIPAC where we discussed the importance of our nation’s strong and meaningful relationship with Israel, I’d like to highlight H. Res. 246, of which I am a proud cosponsor.

H. Res. 246 expresses the sense of Congress that we oppose the Global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement targeting Israel and any efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel.

Earlier this week, President Trump welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House to further our friendship and partnership with the state of Israel, one of our nation’s most cherished allies. Rest assured, I also join the Administration in standing in solidarity with this beacon of democracy.

Do you have a bill that you would like to see highlighted or that you would like me to support? Share your thoughts with me! You can email me ⇒  HEREcontact any of our offices or join the conversation on FacebookTwitter or Instagram

Sincerely,

Rick Allen
