U.S. economy officially enters recession

This week, a report published by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) showed the U.S. economy shrank 0.9% during the second quarter of 2022, indicating we have formally entered a recession after two consecutive quarters of negative growth.

This report confirms what most Americans already know: the failed policies of the Biden administration have devastated our economy. Reckless, big-government spending has sent inflation soaring to an almost 40 year high, and wages have failed to keep pace with rising prices.

It is clear that our ability to rebound from the current recession will be predicated on President Biden’s willingness to reverse his disastrous policies instead of doubling down — leaving Americans rightfully concerned about our country’s economic future.

Rest assured, I am working to eliminate wasteful spending and will continue to scrutinize every taxpayer dollar coming out of Washington.

Increasing access to telehealth services

.

During my tenure in Congress, one of my top priorities has been restoring patient-centered, cost-effective and market-driven solutions to our health care system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth services have enabled countless Georgians to consult their doctors from the comfort and safety of their homes. This has been particularly beneficial for vulnerable populations like seniors as well as those living in rural communities.

This week, I proudly voted to pass H.R. 4040, the Advancing Telehealth Beyond COVID–19 Act to extend access to these important telehealth measures.

As your Congressman, I remain committed to modernizing our health care system and improving the availability of medical treatment for all Americans.

Putting American energy first

.

President Biden's war on fossil fuels has been an unmitigated disaster for the American people. On this president's watch, gas prices have risen 98% and it is estimated that American families will spend an additional $2,000 on gas this year.

Now, the administration is begging Saudi Arabia to increase its oil production instead of reversing these damaging policies. This is disgraceful!

Here in the United States, we produce energy more cleanly and efficiently than anyplace else. If we want to bring gas prices down, we MUST unleash American energy. I will continue pressuring the Biden administration to prioritize American energy production.

Defending the Second Amendment

On Friday, I voted against H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2022.

This legislation is blatantly unconstitutional and seeks to outlaw the most common firearms used for self-defense, target shooting, and hunting by millions of law-abiding Americans. You can read my full statement on the bill here.

House votes on CHIPS bill

.

In the past several weeks, the price tag of this bill ballooned to more than five times its original cost, with no effort to offset this additional spending. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats have also used this bill as a bargaining chip to pave the way for passage of their radical climate tax and spending agenda.

Supporting small business

RWA holding award

This week, I was honored to receive the Hero of Main Street from the National Retail Federation. Having started my own small business, I have a deep appreciation for the role that small businesses play in creating jobs and improving life in communities like ours.
