Washington – Today, Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 4346, a $280 billion measure comprised of government handouts and wasteful spending: “Originally intended as a bill to confront China, the latest version of this bill is a joke and does nothing of the sort. In the past several weeks, the price tag of this bill has ballooned to more than five times its original cost, with no effort to offset this additional spending. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats have also used this bill as a bargaining chip to pave the way for passage of their radical climate tax and spending agenda. “I have been disappointed to watch this legislation be corrupted into another big-government spending package, as the issue itself provides a unique opportunity to bring our supply chain home and end our reliance on foreign chip production. However, in a time of recession and record-high inflation, we must reverse course and instead cut bloated Washington spending.”
