Rep. Rick Allen Statement on U.S. Economy Entering a Recession

Washington – Today, Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) released the following statement after the Department of Commerce reported the U.S. economy shrank 0.9% during the second quarter: “The U.S. economy has officially entered a recession after a year and a half of Washington Democrats’ failed one-party rule. Instead of outlining a plan to respond to this economic decline, the White House spent the beginning of this week trying to convince Americans to accept a different definition of the word ‘recession.’ This unserious approach perfectly encapsulates the failures of this administration to confront the many crises it has created through poor policymaking. It is clear that our ability to rebound from the current recession will be predicated on President Biden’s willingness to reverse his disastrous policies instead of doubling down — leaving Americans rightfully concerned about our country’s economic future.”
