Allen (GA-12) released the following statement after Senate Democrats blocked a government spending bill, shutting down the United States Government: “Here’s the simple truth: my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are holding our government, military, and children’s healthcare hostage. Instead of putting Americans first, Democrats are choosing illegal immigrants. It is Congress’ constitutional obligation to fund the government, yet Senate Democrats have decided that party politics are more important than our American workers.” “Along with my colleagues in the House, I did my part to prevent this from happening. I voted to fund our government, to pay our military, and to extend the children’s health insurance program for six years. We work for the citizens of America – and to the Senate Democrats, I say do your job, do what is in the best interest of this great nation and end this Schumer shutdown.” ### |
