Rep. Allen Supports Bold, New Approach to Appropriations Process
Washington,
July 19, 2018
U.S. Congressman Rick W. Allen (R-Ga-12) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 6147, legislation that contains the Fiscal Year 2019 Interior and Environment and Financial Services and General Government funding bills. “With today’s passage of H.R. 6147, my colleagues and I have secured a brighter future for our kids and grandkids with a bold, new approach to the appropriations process and government spending. In addition to the strong pro-life provisions included, the highlight of this year’s legislation is the Fund for America’s Kids and Grandkids, which safeguards 2.5% of the Financial Services and General Government portion of the bill’s total funds for future generations,” said Congressman Allen. “As the father of four and grandfather of twelve with one more on the way, we must be focused on what deficit spending means for the future and who will be burdened with the debt – and this approach forces us to do just that. Although I do not agree with every aspect of today’s legislation, we simply cannot sit back and allow future generations to be saddled with over $20 trillion of national debt.”
