Rep. Rick Allen Accepting Applications for U.S. Military Service Academy Nominations
U.S. Congressman Rick Allen (R-Ga.-12) is currently accepting applications from young Georgians across the 12th district for nominations from his office to attend a United States Service Academy. As a member of Congress, Allen has the opportunity to nominate a limited number of constituents who meet the eligibility requirements to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, or U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
“It is a privilege to be able to nominate outstanding young people from Georgia’s 12th district to attend our nation’s military service academies,” said Congressman Allen. “These institutions offer those interested in serving our country a first class education and unique opportunities for students to gain knowledge, tools and leadership skills that prepare them both for military and civilian life.”
The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. To be eligible, the applicant must be 17 years of age as of July 1, in the year of admission to a service academy. The applicant must not have passed his or her 23rd birthday. The applicant must also be a United States citizen, unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.
All applications for a nomination through Rep. Allen’s Augusta office are due by 5:00pm on Friday, October 9, 2015. Please note no applications received after the deadline will be considered and no exceptions can be made.
Service academy nomination applications can be downloaded HERE. The application along with additional information about the service academies, application and nomination process are available on Congressman Allen’s website at /constituent-services/military-academy-nominations.htm.
