Georgia Congressmen Introduce Resolution Recognizing 50th Anniversary of Dental College of Georgia

U.S. Congressman Rick W. Allen (R-GA-12), along with Congressmen Sanford Bishop (D-GA-02) and Drew Ferguson (R-GA-03), released the following statement today after introducing H. Res. 247, a resolution recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University.

“For fifty years, the Dental College of Georgia has successfully educated and prepared students from all walks of life to enter the dental profession and provide a valuable service to their communities,” said Congressman Allen. “As the only dental college in the state of Georgia, enrolling nearly four hundred students and sixty residents annually, we certainly have cause for celebration. I am proud to introduce this resolution today with my fellow Georgians, Congressman Bishop and Congressman Ferguson, to recognize this tremendous milestone for dental education in our great state.”

Congressman Sanford Bishop stated

“Congratulations Dental College of Georgia on fifty years of educating future dentists! Your commitment to research, patient care and community service is an example to the state of Georgia and beyond. I am proud to sponsor such a resolution with my colleagues Congressmen Ferguson and Allen to recognize the service DCG has done for Georgia over the past fifty years. I wish the college a continued success for the next fifty years and beyond!”

Congressman Drew Ferguson said the following:

“The Dental College of Georgia has been a rock solid institution of learning since its founding 50 years ago. Year after year, it has fulfilled and surpassed its mission to train oral health professionals to meet the needs of Georgians. A remarkable faculty, a diverse and talented group of students, a commitment to clinical research and strong leadership come together to make the Dental College of Georgia one of the elite dental schools in the nation. I am proud to be a graduate and grateful for the training and experience I received.”
