Rep. Rick Allen: Stripping Second Amendment Rights Will Not Promote Safety
Washington,
January 5, 2016
WASHINGTON, DC--Today, U.S. Congressman Rick Allen (R-Ga.-12) today released the following statement on the President’s proposed executive actions on gun control: “The Second Amendment ensures Americans the right to bear arms, and Congress has been committed to preserving those constitutional rights. However, this President has a history of going around Congress and legislating through executive orders and regulatory overreach to get his way—and this time he has chosen to champion gun control. As we have seen in recent events, the threat of terror is more real than ever, and stripping law abiding citizens’ Second Amendment rights does nothing to promote safety and protection. We have the Constitution for a reason, and I will work to always ensure that our right to bear arms is not infringed upon. President Obama needs to abandon his radical, anti-constitutional agenda and direct his focus on the real issues facing our country, including radical Islamic Terrorists. ”
