U.S. Congressman Rick W. Allen (R-GA-12) announced today the launch of the 2019 Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students in Georgia’s 12th District. This nationwide event allows students to compete with their peers by creating a software application, or “app,” for web, PC, tablet, mobile, or other platform of their choice.
“The Congressional App Challenge is a great way to spark creativity while engaging students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM),” said Congressman Allen. “STEM is a growing field and plays a critical role in Georgia as we continue to promote innovation and economic opportunity.”
All current middle and high school students (6-12th grade) who reside in or attend school in the 12th Congressional District are encouraged to participate. Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four, as long as two of the teammates are eligible to participate in our district.
The winner will be chosen by a panel of local judges who work within the academic, software and entrepreneurial fields. Further details regarding a local event highlighting the submissions and winning app will be forthcoming. Additionally, the winning app will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website (www.house.gov) and displayed in a U.S. Capitol exhibit.
