Rep. Allen: USMCA Is A Win For The American People

Congressman Rick W. Allen (R-GA-12) today released the following statement in support of the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) following Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement that a vote will be scheduled:

“More than a year ago, President Trump fulfilled one of his core promises to the American people and signed an agreement to ensure more balanced, reciprocal trade with our two largest trading partners.

“The USMCA is a huge win for the American people and supports high-paying jobs while bolstering U.S. agriculture. Thanks to improved trade relations, agricultural exports are expected to increase by more than $2 billion annually.

“This vital trade deal achieves bipartisan priorities, which is why it is extremely disappointing that Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats used this agreement as a political pawn by delaying a vote until after they announced their sham articles of impeachment. For no good reason, it took over a year for a vote to even be brought to the House floor.

“Nevertheless, today’s announcement is a win for the American people. I thank President Trump for his leadership on this agreement and resolve to get it across the finish line.”
