Congressman Rick W. Allen (R-GA-12) today voted in support of the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report. The NDAA is the annual bill that authorizes defense spending and sets priorities for America’s military.
“This year’s NDAA secures vital funds to support the men and women who selflessly serve our great country in uniform,” said Congressman Allen. “This legislation authorizes $738 billion in defense funding, provides the largest pay raise for our armed forces in a decade, and rejects numerous Democrat poison pills – such as restrictions on President Trump’s authorities to secure our borders.
“The bill also includes $67 million for military construction projects at Fort Gordon, and includes full plutonium pit funding at the Savannah River Site (SRS). I will keep fighting for necessary funding to support the critical missions at Fort Gordon and SRS.
“Historically, the NDAA has been a bipartisan measure, but this year Democrats upended this tradition and tried to include partisan provisions, which delayed passage of this vital legislation. Funding for our military should never be used as a partisan political tool, but I am glad we were ultimately able to come to an agreement and fund our troops.”
