U.S. Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) today released the following statement on House Democrats’ passage of a resolution to start Congress’ work on Biden’s reckless $3.5 trillion tax and spending bill:

“Our nation is in crisis. Inflation is skyrocketing and small business owners are struggling to get employees back to work. Instead of focusing on the immediate crisis in Afghanistan, or working to get our economy back on track, House Democrats are spending precious time to move forward with Biden’s $3.5 trillion tax and spending spree that is riddled with radical, socialist policies.

“Some of the worst provisions in the resolution include directing committees to provide amnesty to illegal immigrants, eliminate states’ right-to-work protections, subsidize blue state taxes for the wealthy, expand government-controlled health care, and much more.

“Not only are we burdening our children, and children’s children, with the highest sustained federal spending levels in American history, but in the near term this spending spree will kill American jobs and worsen the ongoing economic crisis.”

Background:
S. Con. Res. 14 is not a part of the regular appropriations process or annual government spending.The resolution would set the topline budget levels for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 and directs both the House and Senate Committees to draft legislation that would collectively increase the deficit and increase tax revenue under a process known as budget reconciliation. Committees of jurisdiction have until September 15 to submit their portions of the legislation to their respective House or Senate Budget Committees. A final vote on the compiled bill is expected at a later date.
