Rep. Allen reviews his year in Congress

The Augusta Press First, I want to take a moment to highlight my amazing district staff. My offices in Augusta, Dublin, Statesboro, and Vidalia have dedicated caseworkers who work every day to help navigate the bureaucracy of the federal government and get answers for constituents. In fact, this year we’ve been able to close over 1,845 cases – meaning we’ve been able to help resolve issues constituents were experiencing with a federal agency, such as Social Security, Veterans Affairs, Medicare, and more. Additionally, we’ve been able to offer this direct assistance closer to home through Community Office Hours that we’ve hosted in every single county where we don’t have a permanent office location. I’m also immensely proud of the outreach we’ve done to connect with families across the district. We’ve called over 278,000 homes for telephone town halls, which are free, hour-long calls where I provide a legislative update, answer questions, and take poll questions to get a pulse on how people feel about the most pressing issues being debated in Washington. I look forward to these calls every few weeks, and I plan on hosting more in 2022 – so be sure to sign up on my website if you are interested in participating in future telephone town halls! My office receives thousands of phone calls and emails, and in 2021, we’ve been able to send almost 30,000 responses to constituents. I’ve also been able to hold over 200 meetings – both in person or virtually – with constituents, and I am grateful for these important opportunities to connect. Despite extreme partisanship in Congress, I’ve been focused on championing legislation to help our district. From ensuring parental involvement in our children’s education, to expanding health care options and lowering costs for small businesses, to backing the men and women in law enforcement, I’m committed to ensuring federal policies make life easier and safer for Georgians. Throughout the year, I’ve supported over 200 bills, participated in over 40 committee hearings, and sent over 75 letters to the Biden Administration, holding them accountable for bad policies like vaccine mandates that would cripple small businesses and our economy, reversing our nation’s energy independence, a disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, out-of-control-spending, and more. I will continue to hold the line until we get our nation back on the path toward prosperity. It has been a productive year, and I’m excited to see what 2022 has in store for the 12th District! |
