Washington - Today, Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) released the following statement after the Labor Department updated its monthly inflation statistics:
"President Biden's reckless spending and anti-energy agenda are driving prices higher across the board. With annual inflation now at 8.5 percent, the American people are paying more for everything from gas to groceries while the president still refuses to take responsibility for the catastrophic results of his disastrous policies.
"While the administration is eager to blame rising prices on the war in Ukraine, the reality is that inflation has gone up every month since Joe Biden became president. His policies have hampered American energy production and forced the United States to become increasingly reliant on foreign oil. To rebuild the world's greatest economy, the Biden administration must reverse its assault on domestic energy and stop the wasteful, big-government spending that is fueling this historic inflation."
